The Quintin Kennedy Detachment

 

Business proposition: The Quintin Kennedy Detachment is a French and Indian War reenacting unit which prides itself on how it is consistantly reaching into new territory as reenactors. This small but dynamic group includes a collection of "personas", which also is quite unique. Therefore, they wanted a site that is as unique as they are, is able to educate visitors about who they, and can provide a braod spectrum of information to the site visitors.

What we did: We started with a template that was based on a more compact space than normal, and modified to grow it as content stretched. We provided a talented graphics designer with pictures of wool yard hand-dyed in 18th century techniques to come up with a period color palette (and a braod one at that!) as the basis of backgrounds, menus, and other elements.  We provided a space for alrge pictures that won't get in the way of the text. On the home page, we added quotes-of-the-day which the group has selected from historic documents. And we added the ability for people to few "training" files in Flash.

The result: This site launched in June, 2010 and the "QKD" are pleased with how it differentiates them.
